6 Ways You Can Help Veterans Find a Home

November 10 2013

This post comes to us from the HomeFinder.com blog:

homefinder 6 ways vetsWe understand the importance of having a place to call home. Many of our nation's heroes, veterans who have fought for our country, lack the means to rent, much less buy their first home. Nationwide, more than 60,000 military veterans sleep on our streets every night. Below is a list of organizations that work to provide safe housing options for veterans. Find out how you can get involved and give back to veterans by helping them find a home.

1.) HONORS: HONORS (Housing Our Nation's Outstanding Returning Soldiers) constructs or remodels homes to accommodate the special needs of disabled and injured veterans after recently returning home from combat.

How can you help? You can also donate funds, building supplies, materials, skilled or non-skilled labor here, or volunteer to join a building project.

2.) Final Salute HOME: Final Salute's HOME program caters specifically to homeless female veterans and provides safe, transitional housing for them and their children. They also focus on integrating them back into their local communities and providing housing options in safe, residential areas.

How can you help? You can volunteer by organizing a fundraiser in support of Final Salute or by participating in informational sessions with the female veterans. You can also donate here.
